Our Story

We're Colin and Kimberly Spivey, and along with our son we're the family behind Magnolia Bend Farm. Welcome to our corner of Cottontown.

Seven generations on the same ground

Colin's great-great-great grandparents bought this farm in 1902, and it has stayed in our family every year since. More than a hundred and twenty years later, our son is the seventh generation to be raised on this ground. That kind of legacy isn't something you take lightly. When we took the farm over in June of 2025, we weren't just buying a piece of property. We were stepping into something our family has protected for over a century, and taking responsibility for what comes next.

Why we do this

We did it on purpose, with a clear picture in mind. We wanted to raise our son on this land, build our forever home here, and use these 135 acres to put real food on our table and on yours. Not food that looks good on a label, food that actually nourishes a family.

We're Christians, and the way we see it, we are called to be good stewards of the resources we have. The soil, the animals, the water, and the families we feed, all of it. Stewardship isn't a buzzword to us. It's the entire reason we farm the way we do. We're not interested in squeezing the land for everything it has and walking away. We want to leave it healthier than we found it, season after season, so our son can hand it to his own kids one day in better shape than it is today.

What we raise, and how

Everything here is raised out on pasture the way it was meant to be.

Our South Poll cattle are grass-fed and grass-finished, and we move the whole herd to fresh paddocks of grass regularly, which keeps the land getting healthier and the beef clean and honest. No feedlot, no grain, ever.

Our laying hens follow right behind the cattle in a mobile chicken tractor we move often to keep them on fresh ground, and they range out across the paddocks doing what hens do best. That's why their eggs have deep orange yolks you can taste the difference in.

Our meat chickens are raised right on pasture too, moved daily and sometimes more than once a day so they're always on clean grass.

Our pigs are raised outdoors with plenty of room to root and forage, the way pigs are supposed to live.

Our chickens and pigs are supplemented with certified organic, non-GMO feed; our cattle stay on grass alone. No hormones, no routine antibiotics, no confinement, no shortcuts, anywhere on the farm.

Food for our neighbors

Here's the simplest way to say it. We raise the exact food we want to feed our own family, and then we offer that same food to the people around us. That's the whole idea behind the farmstand. We wanted the families in and around Cottontown to have a place to get clean, honest food raised right down the road, by people they can look in the eye and trust.
